Showing Who's Boss

Since I've been land-locked for the past three weeks (and yes, the waves have been mighty fine... don't even get me started), I've been turning to my bookshelf for entertainment.

I bought this gem in the Lorne op shop a coupla months back, just for the incredible chapter names and fluoro fashion, if nothing else. It's back in the day when 'radical' was used without a hint of irony or nostalgia. Love it.

There's a chapter on lady surfers and they do indeed look radical. My fave quote is from Pauline Menczer, who was on the tour in the late 80s.

"Women's surfing depends on us surfing radically. The men surf radically and fast and we have to too, otherwise we're not going anywhere."

Amen, sister.
